Common Gynecological issues

While irregular cycles or painful monthly cramps are quite common in women, they shouldn't be interpreted as the norm for all women. In many cases, medical and surgical interventions can alleviate and even cure symptoms of conditions such as pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence. During intercourse or between periods, you should seek medical care if you are having particularly painful cramps, severe abdominal pain, and/or heavy bleeding. Any of these symptoms could be a sign of something more serious.

You experience many changes in your body during your reproductive years as a woman. Additionally, you can expect gynecologic problems to come up from time to time. Among the most common concerns include:

Bleeding irregularly:-Blood loss usually occurs about four ounces or eight tablespoons during the menstrual cycle, and periods last approximately five days. Many women experience one “heavy” day during their period, preceded and followed by lighter-flow days. Even if a woman experiences heavier bleeding than the average amount, it is still considered normal. There may also be clots and cramping, although some women experience heavier bleeding for a longer period of time. You should contact your doctor if you are experiencing consistent bleeding, clots, or cramps. An irregular period can be treated with prescription medication or with surgery, depending on how severe the bleeding is.

Yeast infections:-There are several reasons why vaginal irritation can be caused by yeast infections. Approximately three in four women will suffer from yeast infections at least once during their lifetimes. Overgrowth of yeast cells usually occurs in the vaginal area of an individual that causes yeast infections. Pregnancy, uncontrolled diabetes, consumption of oral contraceptives, and antibiotic use can all cause yeast infections. Other factors to be considered include perfumed feminine hygiene products, antimicrobial topical agents, and clothing and underwear that are too tight and poorly ventilated. Over-the-counter or prescription medication can usually treat most yeast infections.

Fibroids in the uterus:-The uterus contains nodules of smooth muscles and tissue called uterine fibroids. During menstruation, they can cause excessive bleeding or painful urination, infertility, or frequent urination, but they aren't cancerous. The only option for treatment used to be a hysterectomy. The current research suggests that fibroids may not need treatment beyond anti-inflammatory drugs available over-the-counter, or prescription drugs for more bothersome cases.

Endometriosis:-The menstrual period is when women leave their uterus during the last part of their menstrual cycle with the discharge of endometrium or menstrual fluid. During your period, this endometrial tissue can break apart and bleed from the outside of the uterus. How does this happen? Displacing tissue on the outside of the uterus can cause blood to pool, causing swelling or inflammation of the surrounding tissue. Scar tissue may result from inflammation, which as a result may form lesions or growths. In spite of the wide range of treatment options for endometriosis, experts now agree that, in cases of mild symptoms, there is no treatment other than medication for pain.

Urinary Tract Infection (UTI):-Women of all ages suffer from urinary tract infections (UTI). In the vaginal area or anus, the bacterial infection spreads up to the urethra and bladder, and sometimes even to the kidneys. Infections of the bladder or UTIs can cause pelvic pain, urination difficulty, blood in the urine, and urges to urinate more.

Women who are pregnant, diabetics who have uncontrolled blood sugar levels, or women who take oral contraceptives or antibiotics are most likely to experience UTI. Over-the-counter or prescription medications are usually enough to treat urinary tract infections.
